There was once a time that false teeth were only associated with old people. No one would ever have thought there would come a time when dentures for young people would be common.
It seems that many young people have dental problems, including tooth decay and missing teeth. Due to financial restraints, dental checkups and treatment are avoided wherever possible.
In recent times, more and more under 25’s are seeking to have any remaining teeth extracted and replaced with dentures.
When asked why such decisions are being made, there are two main reasons.
- Once natural teeth are replaced, there are no dental problems. The hope is that the teeth will last for many years and eliminate any dental bills.
- Appearance is becoming more important in the workplace, and with competition being so fierce, you are at a disadvantage if you have a mouth full of rotten teeth or gaps.
With new dentures, a better visual image is created. As the sight of decaying teeth often puts potential employers off an applicant, new teeth might make the difference between someone getting a job or not.
Although the old saying ‘You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover’ is true, sadly people still do.
