The trademark smile of Shane MacGowan, with a combination of gaps and decaying teeth has gone for good.
After years of putting up with oral problems, the singer from the Pogues took the brave step to have new dentures fitted. Perhaps best known by many for their hit record ‘Fairytale Of New York’, Shane now has a fairy tale ending to years of the potential pain that tooth decay entails.
The transformation was remarkable, and the singer’s new smile bore no resemblance to the one he’d displayed for decades.
At 57 years of age, implanted false teeth make him look younger than ever before, and a gold tooth adds a modern touch to his smile.
Many patients would opt for sparkling white teeth, but it seems that a more natural look was desired by Shane. This is a matter of personal choice, and whether you opt for the natural look to match any other teeth, or prefer the sparkling white effect is up to you.
The singer could have also opted for traditional removable false teeth. However, it seems that he had tried this option some years ago and wasn’t impressed. Perhaps he had experienced badly fitting dentures or just didn’t feel comfortable wearing them.
Whatever motivated the celebrity to go through with oral surgery and have permanent dental implants fitted, he has already said how much things have changed.
When you opt for false teeth which are fitted permanently, you have the benefit of not having to worry about denture fixative or movement of the teeth. However, the procedure is a little more complex than that for removable teeth.
The effect of new teeth cannot be underestimated, and often provide the fairytale ending to many ‘makeover shows’.
New dentures that fit properly mean you can eat what you want, smile when you want, and will almost undoubtedly change your life.
